
Greetings. I am Dr. Richard F. Gaspar, a full Professor of Mass Communication and has taught for 30+ years. I have been recognized as a site level, county level and state level teacher of the year. I earned my A.A. at Hillsborough Community College, B.A. at the University of Tampa, M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of South Florida, Developmental Education Certification at Appalachian State University, and completed post doctorate certificates and course work at the universities of Florida, South Florida, Missouri and Memphis. I sponsor the Hillsborough College student publications the “Hawkeye,” “Triad,” and “Galeria” and the Hawk Media Club for the past 20 years.
I ave also published works in newspapers, magazines, textbooks and online. He has worked on television sets (SHAMU TV), commercials, radio and television. I am an active member of the Society of Professional Journalists, College Media Advisers, Associated Collegiate Press, Florida College System Publications Association, and the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. I have also judged national publications contests and served as a critique adviser for student publications. I have attended numerous state, national and international journalism and mass communication conferences.
In 2011, I was honored as the 10th recipient of the CMA Distinguished 2-Year Magazine Adviser Award, and in 2015, I was honored with CMA Distinguished 2-Year Newspaper Adviser Award.
My greatest joys in life are time with my family and traveling….which I do often!
